I took up this design challenge as my personal interest so as to gain the deep practical knowledge about the UX process. My motive was to take something that people used in their daily basis and to extract out market value from that topic. Designing a product for everyday use, it was important to ground it through market research and deep analysis of target users.
Due to the time constraint I didn't got much time in exploring in conduction research. I tried to find an answer to " Why this product is need to be created?" Mostly the problem is, difficulty in maintaining the time schedule and following it. This product will help in exploring all these problems and attend their aims.
I did a survey on around 20+ people, and according to it, the key features were noted down. The key feature includes- All the feature of the app will be free for everyone, simple/clear and intuitive navigation, pretty interface, beautiful and logical images, achievements and rewards for waking up, eye pleasing interactive animation and instant sharing achievements with friends .
As the project has no group participation, so I was the sole designer working on it. I designed and worked on the UX/UI design/ case study/ research analysis/ psychology behavior point of perspective in order to achieve a user centric goal for the users.
Initially the idea behind the idea was to create a simple alarm clock with an attractive design and consistent element of motivation and support for such a basic and often far from pleasant process as waking up. The basic initial logo on the screen was set as fun, cute, bright and cheerful, and marketing research supported this concept with the analysis of competition and ideas on adding new feature set to the app.
Directly coming to the feature set, it will include the money charging system within the app, if you failed to follow your time schedule then the desired amount of money you have selected will be automatically debited from your banking account. This feature set can help many people in maintaining their schedule, because no one wants to loose something, especially if the case is money. Haven't added it yet but the feature of an app tutorial before/after the onboarding set up can guide the user to go in a right flow of direction.
I started to develop the user flow in terms on the basis of a normal alarm clock initially, but later on added about the transaction process to it. It was quite a difficult task in formulating a scenario of how this flow will work, but I eventually got a way to solve it.
As, I have already generated the thought process in my mind itself so I didn't required much of rough sketching and ideation process. I directly jumped on to develop a high fidelity model and its prototyping.
The entire journey right from taking up the project to developing screens was cool. It was not at all easy to reach here. First major problem was to find the true participants for the user research. As I myself could not able to judge and design of my own so I started redefining the objectives of my work and I tried my best to include all groups of people in my user research. This process help me a lot in proceeding forward and finally able to complete this challenge in a span of 3 months single handedly.
